Why I started blogging

I've been writing privately (journaling) for the past 4-5 years without knowing that I was actually journaling until I decluttered my notebooks by the end of 2024.

My private notes were fun to read, they also showed me who I was back in the days and how much I've changed throughout the years.

So, here are the reasons why I started blogging. At the end is an invitation in doing so.

A memento

The one thing that pushed me to commit to blogging is the acknowledgement of my own mortality. Not that I'm sick or mentally ill. Just idea of creating something that will outlast me, for my future (grand)children and other loved ones.

This blog is my little footprint on the web. A place of expression, mostly in words. No algorithms. No trackers. No ads. Just plain and simple reading and writing. Far from social media. Far from the digital noise.

When I read about someone's work, I prefer reading on their personal websites. I hope to do the same for readers with the same preference.

A place for recalling and solidifying

A collection of notes, references, and other links. Sharing my journey learning X and Y helps me understand them better.

A headquarters

This is where posts are made first. Implementing the POSSE strategy–Post On your Site, Syndicate Everywhere.

A bridge to meet other people online. No BS. No toxicity.

It's refreshing to see non-AI content on the web these days. Faith in humanity is once again, restored.

It helps me communicate better

Writing and speaking are significantly distinct, especially in tone. It's difficult to write clearly as if you're speaking. And writing clearly requires a higher degree of thinking (that's why most of the time I try to write something, it's often blank). You can't write if you cannot articulate the words.

If I could write about something in a simple and an understandable manner, I can speak it better. No filler words. No "uhh." No "like..."

Bear is a good place to start to write publicly. Doesn't matter if you're good or bad at writing, you get better at it through time. Getting better at writing means you get better at thinking. Thinking in a structured a manner makes you a better communicator. Good communication means connection with less confusion.

Start writing.
